THE ROTARY PROJECT
FOR THE YOUNG ARTISTS FROM TICINO
The Rotary Club Bellinzona, Locarno, Lugano, Lugano-Lago, Mendrisiotto, in collaboration with Rotaract Club Ticino are pleased to announce their synergy with the Centro Culturale Chiasso and specifically the management of the m.a.x. museum and Spazio Officina on the occasion of the exhibition Le Stanze dell’arte.
WHAT IS ROTARY
We are 1.4 million professionals united in the goal of bringing positive and lasting change to the communities in which we live and to the world.
The fact that we come from different cultures and countries and to practice the most disparate professions allows us to see reality from a variety of angles. Our shared passion for serving helps us accomplish the impossible.
HOW WE OPERATE
At the forefront of ongoing commitment are our members, who work tirelessly with their clubs to try to solve some of society’s most dramatic problems. The work done locally by Rotarians is supported by Rotary International, the association of all clubs, and The Rotary Foundation with grants funded from donations received. These grants help support the service activities of Rotary members and our partners around the world. Rotary is led by members elected to leadership positions who responsibly carry out the mission and values of the organization.

Young artists award 2022 – creative genesis:
The idea was born from a first contact between the management of the m.a.x. museum and the various committees of the Rotary Club Mendrisiotto and Rotary Club Lugano, a meeting that took place online at the beginning of 2021 after the sudden closure of the Le Stanze dell’arte exhibition, due to the lockdown. On that occasion, the exhibition was visited online and the enthusiasm on the part of the Rotary Club was such that the m.a.x. museo decided to start a synergy that resulted in cooperation between the Clubs to support young artists.
From the availability of Dicastero Attività culturali di Chiasso, of the Centro Culturale and then of Rotary Club Bellinzona, Rotary Club Lugano-Lago and Rotaract who joined with great enthusiasm the two precursor Rotary Clubs, a working group was created very close-knit. The exhibition Le Stanze dell’arte was born from the competition reserved for young artists from the Cantons of Ticino and Grigioni, launched last December by the m.a.x. museum and Municipio di Chiasso with the aim of promoting this generation of talents; the Rotary Clubs have joined the initiative, giving their willingness to carry on the project by linking it to exhibitions related to the art market after the exhibition period at the Centro Culturale di Chiasso. The exhibition will be hosted at Spazio Officina between 13 and 27 March 2022.
On the occasion of the exhibition in Chiasso, the Rotary Clubs will select 16 artists who will be given economic appreciation prizes and will offer them, together with the artists awarded by the judging committee of the Centro Culturale di Chiasso, the opportunity to exhibit their works in two other locations of the territory:
From March 30 to April 23, 2022, an exhibition space with a strong vocation to support young artists and with a section entirely dedicated to them entitled .YOUNG will go on display in the Kromya contemporary art gallery in Lugano;
From 27 April to 5 May 2022 they will be exhibited in Bellinzona, in the splendid setting of the Sala del Patriziato of the Municipality of Bellinzona, in the center.
The idea of having different exhibition venues stems from the desire to give young artists the opportunity to deal with different realities of the cultural sector: from the art gallery, an essential entity to ensure that the artist meets the market and collectors, to a exhibition venue in the historic center. All in different places in the area, giving the artists further visibility and the possibility of meeting.
Motivating the Rotary Clubs involved and Rotaract Ticino is the desire to work dispassionately for the territory, driven by the spirit of Clubs of service and the intent to implement all the principles that unite the Rotarian essence: from the union of all internal Rotarian resources from Ticino (also helped by the Rotary Foundation for Switzerland and Liechtenstein), at the service of the population of our Canton who will be able to enjoy a unique exhibition of its kind. From the motivation to continue along the path they have chosen despite the objective difficulties caused by the pandemic, to the visibility they so much need, passing through unique training opportunities that will see them exposed to professionals in the art market and supported by professionals internationally renowned and finally engaged in extremely practical matters such as the presence at the various exhibition stages and their setting up and dismantling. All with the precise hope that this experience will enrich them with a unique and indispensable know-how to see them launched towards personal success with resonance far beyond the cantonal borders.

Le Stanze dell'Arte si chiudono, ma comincia il percorso dei giovani artisti ticinesi
from "Corriere del Ticino" 10/14/2022
